Audi A3 8V Adaptation and Coding

The following Adaptations and Codings are valid for the Audi A3, S3 and RS3 8V range of vehicles, from 2013 through to late 2016.

Key:

BLUE = a Basic Adaptation and Coding Item.

Basic Adaptation and Coding items are modifications which are included within a standard VAG Car Coding session, which normally lasts approx 1.5 hours and contains as many "Basic" modifications as you would like.

GREEN = an Advanced Adaptation and Coding Item.

Advanced Adaptation and Coding items are modifications which are NOT included within a standard VAG Car Coding session, and are individually priced due to the time and the works involved.

Vehicle Alarm, Visual and Warning Tones
Alarm Tone on Lock

From the factory, your vehicles anti-theft alarm system will flash the turning signals of your car once in order to indicate that the car has been both locked and that the anti-theft alarm system has been armed.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure the anti-theft alarm system so that it will also "beep" once in addition to and in sync with the default turn signal flash.

Alarm Tone on Unlock

From the factory, your vehicles anti-theft alarm system will flash the turning signals of your car twice in order to indicate that the anti-theft alarm system has been disarmed and that the car has been unlocked.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigured the anti-theft alarm system so that it will also "beep" twice in addition to and in sync with the default turn signals flashing.

Alarm Tone Menu Control

In addition to the Alarm Tone on Lock and Unlock activations, VAG Car Coding can activate a menu control which will allow you to toggle the Locking and Unlocking "beeps" on and off as needed.

Visual Confirmation of Comfort Closing

From the factory, vehicles equipped with comfort closing supply no confirmation once closing of all the open windows has been completed.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure your vehicles anti-theft alarm system to supply an additional turn signal flash once comfort closing of all open windows, and sunroof if you have one, has been completed and the anti-theft alarm system has been armed, informing you that your vehicle is secure.

Seatbelt Warning Deactivation

From the factory, your vehicle will sound a warning and activate a dashboard warning light if the drivers seatbelt is not secured whilst the vehicle is in motion.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this function so that both of these warnings are deactivated.

Ignition Key Warning

From the factory, your vehicle will sound an alarm and activate a dashboard warning light if the drivers door should be opened whilst a key is in the ignition.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this function in order to deactivate these warnings.

Exterior Lighting
Daytime Running Lights Disable

From the factory, vehicles manufactured from 20134 onwards do not allow their Daytime Running Lights to be turned off whilst a key is in the ignition, the ignition is in the accessory position, or while the engine is running.

VAG Car Coding can disable your vehicles Daytime Running Lights so that they remain off at all times.

Daytime Running Light Menu Control

From the factory, European vehicles manufactured from 2013 onwards do not allow their Daytime Running Lights to be turned off whilst a key is in the ignition, the ignition is in the accessory position, or while the engine is running.

VAG Car Coding can activate a menu control which will allow you to toggle your Daytime Running Lights on and off as needed.

Daytime Running Lights Off with Handbrake

From the factory, European vehicles manufactured from 2013 onwards do not allow their Daytime Running Lights to be turned off whilst a key is in the ignition, the ignition is in the accessory position, or while the engine is running.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure your vehicles lights to automatically switch off when your handbrake is applied, switching back on again once your handbrake is released.

Daytime Running Lights Off in Switch Position 0

From the factory, European vehicles manufactured from 2013 onwards do not allow their Daytime Running Lights to be turned off whilst key is in the ignition, the ignition is in the accessory position, or while the engine is running.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigured your vehicles lights so that they will turn off when your light switch is in the off or 0 position.

Coming Home Lights Duration

From the factory, vehicles equipped with the Automatic Lights feature will have a Coming Home Lights duration of approximately 30 seconds.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this timer to be between 10 and 90 seconds.

*some older vehicles only allow a maximum of 60 seconds.

Coming Home / Leaving Home Lights Type

From the factory, vehicles equipped with the Automatic Lights feature have a Coming Home and Leaving Home Lights feature, which by default will use both the vehicles Daytime Running Lights and Low Beams.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this feature to use Daytime only, Fog Lights only, Low Beams only, or indeed a combination of all three lighting options, for example Daytime Running Lights and Fog Light.

Coming Home Lights Trigger

From the factory, vehicles equipped with the Automatic Lights feature will have the Coming Home Lights turn on when the engine has been switched off and the drivers door is opened.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this feature so that the Coming Home Lights will turn on when the key is removed from the ignition instead.

Leaving Home Lights Duration

From the factory, vehicles equipped with the Automatic Lights will have a Leaving Home Lights duration of approximately 20 seconds.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this timer to be between 10 and 90 seconds.

*some older vehicle only allow a maximum of 60 seconds.

Daytime Running Lights Brightness Level while Indicating

From the factory, when one of your vehicles front turning signals is activated the related Daytime Running Light will dim down to approximately 30% of its total brightness. Some early vehicles will actually turn the related Daytime Running Light off completely for the duration of the indication.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure the Daytime Running Lights to Dim to any desired level or indeed remain at full brightness whilst your vehicles indicators are active.

Daytime Running Lights Brightness Level with Side Lights and Dipped Beams

From the factory, your vehicles Daytime Running Lights are configured to dim down to approximately 60% whenever the Side Lights or Low Beams are activated.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigured the Daytime Running Lights so that they remain at full brightness or indeed dim to any desired level.

Automatic Motorway Lights

Within the main Electronic Control Module of your vehicle there is an option to have your vehicles headlights automatically activate when the vehicle is travelling above 140km/h. Depending on the year of your vehicle this feature may be configured to be active by default from the factory.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this feature to be activated or deactivated as needed.

Automatic Rain Lights Deactivation

From the factory, vehicles equipped with Automatic Lights and Wipers will automatically activate their dipped beams whenever a prolonged period of rain is detected.

VAG Car Coding can disable this feature if needed.

Rear Side Light as Daytime Running Lights

From the factory, vehicle manufactured before late 2016 will only have their rear side light activate while either the front side lights and or dipped beams are on.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigured the rear side lights to function as Daytime Running Lights, activating in sync with the cars normal Daytime Running Lights.

Semi Dynamic Pace Car Rear Turn Signal Phasing

From the factory, your vehicles rear inner and outer cluster turn signals will flash in sync when activated.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigured your turn signals so that when activated they flash out of sync with each other, creating a semi-dynamic or "pace car" effect. This effect also carries over to the anti-theft alarm system flashing and the vehicles hazard lights.

Static Cornering Lights Activation

From the factory, vehicles without adaptive Xenon or LED headlights do not come supplied with cornering lights, a feature which activates an additional light in the direction which your vehicle is turning in order to provide additional light.

Vehicles which have factory supplied or indeed retrofitted fog lights can have these lights re-configured to activate based on steering angle in order to provide additional lighting when cornering.

Halogen Reversing Light Brightness

From the factory, vehicles which use halogen bulbs for reversing lights have their brightness set to 80%.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure the brightness level in order to be up to 100%.

LED Reversing Light Brightness

From the factory, vehicles which use LED bulbs for reversing lights have their brightness set to between 80% and 100%.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure the brightness level in order to be up to 127%.

USA Style Side Lights

From the factory, European vehicle turning signals are configured to be off at all times unless they are being used to signal a change in direction or unless they are going used as hazard lights.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure your vehicles turning signals, both the front and the rear, so that they function as American or USA style side Lights, remaining on and dimly lit in order to function as Daytime Running Lights.

Instrumentation, Dashboard and Media System
Automatic Daylight Savings and GPS Time

From the factory, vehicles equipped with the Audi MMI4G version 1 systems will not automatically change your vehicles clocks in sync with Daylight Savings Time.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure your vehicles MMI so that the vehicles clocks will automatically change in sync with both Daylight Savings Time and GPS signals.

*applies to Audi MMI version 1 systems equipped with 5.8" and 7" screens.
**Audi MMI version 1 systems are also referred to as MMI4Gv1 and MMI4GPv1 systems.

Needle Sweep

From the factory, Audi S and RS vehicle are supplied with Needle Sweep. On ignition the instrument dials needles of these vehicles will illuminate and then cycle from Zero through to the maximum speed and maximum revs possible and then return to their zero positions. This feature is also known as Needle Staging or Needle Celebration.

VAG Car Coding can activate this feature on non S and RS vehicles.

Motorway Turn Signal Deactivation

From the factory, your vehicle is configured with motorway / soft touch turn signal feature which allows you to activate a pre-set number of turning signal flashes without having to fully engage your vehicles indicator stalk.

VAG Car Coding is able to disable this feature if required.

Motorway Turn Signal Count

From the factory, your vehicle is configured with a motorway / soft touch turn signal feature which allows you to activate a pre-set number of turning signal flashes without having to fully engage your vehicles indicator stalk. This turn signal count is normally configured to be 3 flashes.

VAG Car Coding can reconfigure this feature to be between a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 flashes.

Passenger Mirror Dip in Reverse Gear

Vehicles with either factory supplied or retrofitted OEM Power Adjustable and Folding Mirrors, when in reverse gear the passenger side mirror will automatically dip down in order to display the kerb and any possible obstructions.

VAG Car Coding can activate this feature on vehicles without Power Folding Mirrors.

*some 2015 vehicles will occasionally "forget" the passenger mirror default position, requiring a manual reset adjustment by the driver.
